The basics

To the question "What do I actually need for my pilot training?" you often hear the answer "Basically, a course triangle and an E6B are enough!". Aha. As a newcomer to the world of piloting, this is where the challenge lies. Therefore, here are our tips for navigation ruler & calculator:

Course triangle
The course triangle for the optimal reading of angles should be explicitly oriented to aviation.

course ruler
Make sure your course ruler is made of a flexible yet sturdy material and ideally the scale is in nautical miles (1:1 million) and kilometers (1:500,000).

Navigation Calculator/Flight Computer
You need the navigation computerto perform flight calculations such as time, distance, speed, fuel consumption, TAS, conversions.

aeronautical charts & aids

Even though paper charts may seem a bit antiquated at first and there are great navigation tools with digital map material, the classic ICAO chart is indispensable for theoretical pilot training. Determine & draw flight route, calculate route, etc. want first aviation charts & aids:

ICAO aeronautical chart Germany
The ICAO aeronautical 1:500 000 is the standard chart for VFR flights and covers the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany including adjacent foreign countries. It contains all important topography and air traffic control information and is available in powered flight or glider flight versions.

Marker pen
You should have a highlighter besitzen, mit dem du mehrmals Routen in der Karte einzeichnen kannst. Wie das geht? Ganz einfach: Ein Markierungsstift, bei dem du die Farbe einfach mittels der Kunststoffspitze am Gehäuseende wieder wegradiert kannst.

Marking tape
We also recommend using a removable, labelling adhesive tape to mark courses on the map and to mark important information in manuals or books.

Course disc
A 360° Course disc with a grid division, where each line corresponds to three nautical miles, should always have a small hole in the centre for better fixing on the chart.

Punching circle
ANavimat is essential for easy reading of distances on the ICAO 1:500 000 map.

theory exam

For most student pilots, the practical part is the more exciting part of the training. But theory is and remains the solid basis of a safe and successful flight - and it doesn't have to be dry and boring! We show you here which Learning material you should not do without when preparing for the exam:

VFR radiotelephony
In aviation radiotelephony is the foundation of every pilot. The VFR radiotelephony textbook is the ideal support for all aspiring pilots to prepare for the exams to obtain the radiotelephony certificates BZF I and II.

VFR radiotelephony simulator
Training makes perfect: Practice your radio skills with the VFR simulator It is equipped with an advanced voice recognition system that responds to your instructions. This ensures a realistic simulation.

PPL questionnaire
Eisenschmidt developed the PPL questionnairein cooperation with the DAeC Deutscher Aero Club e.V., the DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH and the DWD Deutscher Wetterdienst. It represents the examination standards of many federal states and allows flight students to learn flexibly and independently. The questionnaire is available digitally via the learning platform of Aviationexam, which has more than 10 years of experience in examining pilots.

In the cockpit

Finally, the time has come: The first flying lesson is coming up! With these products you are well prepared:

Aviation Headset
You have just started your pilot training and don't want to spend a small fortune on a good headset? Our tip for you: The affordable and stable headset PA 11-60of the brand Pilot Communications "customized by Eisenschmidt" with very good wearing comfort.

Flight logbook
The flight logbook according to EU-FCLis used to record flight times for private aircraft pilots / glider pilots / helicopter pilots / free balloon pilots / air sports equipment pilots / professional aircraft pilots (CPL).

kneeboard
When buying a kneeboard look for practical "add-ons" such as pen holders or printed VFR information.
