Most of our colleagues are currently attending the Aero aviation trade show. We will be available by phone from Monday, April 20, 2026, through Friday, April 24, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Our retail store in Egelsbach will be open during this time. It will be closed in the mornings. Email inquiries will be answered in the afternoons. We appreciate your understanding if there is a longer wait time.
Effective flight training in this advanced technological age calls for improved teaching methods. Sean Lane’s 21st Century Flight Training discusses core concepts such as flight phases, task prioritization, proficiency segments for performance maneuvers, as well as visual situational awareness — all of which lead to improved training efficiency and intelligent aeronautical decision making.
The book introduces new training models such as Integrated Sensory Flying (ISF): a concept that answers a long-awaited call for a visual flight instruction program similar to that of Basic Attitude Instruments (BAI). The new training models and teaching methods provide tools to help resolve the inherent conflict between technically advanced aircraft and an increasingly complex flight environment, and general aviation accident trends.
21st Century Flight Training teaches all the primary flight training maneuvers from the perspective of an examiner with countless checkride insights, guiding readers from initial flight instructor lessons to conducting flight reviews on their own. Flight instructor candidates are led through the development of a complete set of lesson plans, learning how to teach maneuvers, navigate oral exams and practical tests, and on to operating as twenty-first century flight instructors. Illustrated, bibliography.

The Flight Instructor’s Manual is an invaluable reference for flight instructor applicants and serves as an indispensable guide for both new and experienced instructors (CFIs). The Fifth Edition is edited by William K. Kershner's son, William C. Kershner. This manual is organized so that each chapter serves as a stand-alone reference for a particular phase of instruction, allowing each to be used as “how to instruct” guides on topics such as fundamentals of flight instruction (FOI), presolo instruction, first solo to the private certificate, advanced VFR instruction, introduction to aerobatic instruction, and instrument instruction. The book also features a comprehensive spin syllabus, material on multi-engine airplanes, instructing international students, teaching ground school, and setting up tests.

With over six decades of experience as pilot-in-command in more than 100 types and models of airplanes, Bill Kershner was FAA/General Aviation Flight Instructor of the Year in 1992, and named Elder Statesman of Aviation in 1997. He was inducted into the Flight Instructor Hall of Fame in 1998. His son, William C. Kershner, was soloed by his father, and holds Flight Instructor and Airline Transport Pilot certificates. He has flown 22 types of airplanes in his over 10,000 hours of flight time, ranging from Cessna 150s to Boeing 777s.
