The Berlin Airlift served to supply the city of Berlin by aircraft of the Western Allies after the Soviet occupation forces had blocked the land and water routes from the Trizone to West Berlin from June 24, 1948 to May 12, 1949 by the Berlin Blockade. The airlift officially ended on September 30, 1949.

In memory of this historic event, the watch manufacturer from the heart of Germany has designed the pilot watch "Berlin Airlift 70".
