The Center Section Three offers 4 inches of storage and easily carries 13" laptops, some 14" laptops, tablets as well as documents, folders, clipboards, etc. Note - there are no side pocket mounts on the CS4.
Scope Of Delivery
This item does not include a Main Handle or Shoulder Strap. If building a custom bag, make sure your order includes one or both.
The CS5 was developed primarily for our IFR Flight Customers. By adding a CS5 to any configuration, you can now add IFR Binders and documents, without having to repack. In addition to IFR equipment, the CS5 is perfect for a couple days worth or clothes, two more sets of headsets, or a 13" laptop.
The CS5 is 13.5" x 10.5" x 5". (And remember, it is a soft bag so it can expand slightly in every direction.) The CS5 can attach to all of the FLEX System modules.
The CS5 makes a great bag all by itself. By adding end caps you now have an amazing carrying case. One might ask how they access all the equipment/clothes in the CS5. On the CS5 there is top level access. Simply unzip the top zipper, which is also a sunglasses holder, and reach down and grab your items
This item does not include a Main Handle or Shoulder Strap. If building a custom bag, make sure your order includes one or both.
The CS5 also comes with a divider shelf that is attached to the sidewalls of the compartment by use of Velcro on each end. The velcro panels on the bag walls are quite large which allows you to move the divider shelf up and down to position the shelf right where you need it for your stuff (or take it completely out if you need). If you have the divider shelf installed, and if you're accessing the bag only from the top access, you won't (of course) be able to get those items underneath the divider shelf. To remedy this situation, (we did think of this occurance) we made it so that you can also zip open the entire rear panel of the module, thereby allowing you to grab all of the items inside, both above and below the divider shelf. So the CS5 has both top AND side access. Pretty cool.
There are also two FLEX-Mount pocket stations on the outside of the bag, one on each side. You can install any two of your choice of the FLEX System side pockets onto the sides of the CS5 at these stations.
The bottom of the bag has two plastic "skid plates" to help keep the bottom of the bag off the ground.
The CS11 was designed primarily for pilots that frequently travel overnight. It will swallow several changes of clothes, a 13” laptop with room for binders and documents, or a small cooler. In addition to aviation, in its B18 Carryall configuration, the CS11 works well in the Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical fields. The CS11 can attach to all of the FLEX System modules. The CS11 has a pocket directly on top for quick access to credit cards, change, small flashlight, etc. Opening the main compartment, one will find a gray interior for finding items easier. The CS11 comes with two vertical dividers for better organization of files, binders, or documents. One can also easily place a 13” laptop inside the main compartment. Remove the vertical dividers to open up the main compartment for clothes, dopp kit, cooler, etcThere are four FLEX-Mount pocket stations on the outside of the bag, two on each side. You can install any four of your choice of the FLEX System side pockets onto the sides of the CS11 at these stations, including the Side Pocket Delta (Double Pocket). The CS11 is the main Center Section of the B18 HANGAR. The B18 consists of two end caps (pocket and flat) a CS11, CS2, CS5, and four pockets. This is the largest Pre-Configured bag in the FLEX System inventory. The B18 allows you to zip in your clothes or extra equipment when traveling, and when done simply remove the center section or sections that are no longer needed. The intent being that you do not have to re-arrange your equipment when changing missions. Simply add and remove the Center SectionsThe CS11 makes a nice bag on its own with end caps. The CS11 was not designed to be used on its own because of the potential damage to exposed zippers. Add pocket and flat caps to complete the fit and finish of the bag. Load your clothes in the CS11, your personal items in the Pocket Cap Front, and your iPad and documents in the Flat Cap Rear, for exampleThe CS11 can also fit onto telescoping suitcase handles. Unzip a zipper on the side of the CS11 and slide the telescoping handle through the opening. This secures the CS11 to the handle. The CS11 will then sit on the top of the luggageThe bottom of the bag has four plastic "skid plates" to help keep the bottom of the bag off the ground.
This Main Handle comes with all of the pre-configured bags (The B2, B4, B6, B7, B10, B18, all come with one Main Handle.) You also get a Main Handle if you order a separate Front Bag. But if you discover you need or want an extra handle, you can purchase it here.
The Pocket Cap Front mimics the front of the Front Bag. The Pocket Cap Front attaches to the CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5, and CS11.
There are nine pockets on the outer surface of the Pocket Cap Front. You can plainly see three different pocket locations. Each of these three pockets pocket compartments actually contain three pockets:
A main pocket area. This Main pocket area is designed to hold your mobile device, wallet and keys.
A small secondary pocket tucked in the top of each pocket. This pocket is designed to hold a flashlight and fuel tester.
And then a small flat pocket on the front cover of each pocket. This is designed to hold your electronic E6B, camera, business cards, iPod.
These pockets are great for organizing all the little stuff in your personal and professional life. The Pocket Cap Front is not designed to be used alone because the separation zipper would be exposed and could be damaged. Always zip the Pocket Cap Front onto one of the other FLEX System modules. This item does not include a Main Handle or Shoulder Strap. If building a custom bag, make sure your order includes one or both.
A great FLEX System option that works really well is to zip this Pocket Cap Front onto a Rear End Cap. This forms a configuration called B0 SLIM. This gives you a nice thin bag that is perfect for carrying your iPad, some documents, cords, cables, etc. It also turns out that the 13" Mac Book Air, and even the 13" Mac Book Pro will fit between these two End Caps. To carry the B0 SLIM, you'll make use the included Slim Handle which attach to the bag with the two small rectangular clips. These clips have a gap in them which allows you to thread them into the two small loops on the side of the Pocket Cap Front. (There are two more loops on the top of the bag as an option.) DO NOT CARRY ANY BAG BIGGER THAN THE PORTFOLIO WITH THE PORTFOLIO HANDLE. Always use the Main Handle when the Front End Cap is attached to any of the main modules.
A specialized Rear End Cap that has Back Pack Straps built in. Carry your smaller configurations (B2 or B4) hands-free. Stow the straps when you don't need them. This specialized Rear End Cap turns any BrightLine Bag into a backpack (with limitations). This End Cap has backpack straps built in, but doesn’t look like a backpack when the straps are not in use. It's easy to deploy the straps in less than 20 seconds. And then it's easy to stow them when you don't need them. Now you have the ability to throw your (small) BrightLine Bag onto your back and use both shoulders to carry the load and be hands free when necessary.
But there are obvious limitations. And because of these unavoidable limitations, we're referring to this as “The World’s Most Adequate Backpack”. We do not want people to start expecting that this new component is going to allow them to replace any normal backpack they may currently be using. But this new PACK CAP REAR will make it great for getting down Terminal C hands-free, or from their car, out across the tarmac to their plane. The first limitation is that the BrightLine Bag, to start with, is a pretty short bag. It’s only 13.5” tall. Most backpacks are much taller than that because it’s pretty far from the top of most people’s shoulders to a place near their waist line. So this PACK CAP REAR makes the BrightLine Bag into a very short backpack. If you’re tall then the bottom of the bag is going to hit you pretty high in the middle of your back. But if you’re a small person, then this setup will probably work much better. You will probably still use the SHOULDER STRAP most of the time, but there are times where it’s great to be able to whip out the backpack straps and put your BrightLine Bag onto both shoulders and be hands-free.The second limitation is that it really only makes sense to use this new PACK CAP REAR with narrow configurations like the B0, B2, and B4. Nothing bigger than that will work. If you tried to put a B7 FLIGHT configuration on your back, the length of the bag would cause it to cantilever away from your back and it would hang down hard and try to pull you over backwards. But for the smaller configurations, it’s hard to beat.
The Side Pocket Charlie is a pen pocket designed to hold pens and pencils in flight. In addition, it will hold eyeglasses and larger markers in the pocket behind the slots.
